A Walkie Talkie for Easy Communication
The well known walkie talkie was developed during the Second World War. A walkie talkie is also known as a handheld transceiver or two-way radio transceiver. The invention of walkie talkie is variously credited to engineering teams at Motorola, Donald L. Hings, and Alfred J. Gross. The walkie talkies were created to facilitate communication during the wars and they were later developed by many other armed forces, though in somewhat different designs. After the war was over, the usage of a walkie talkie also spread to the general public. Gradually, the walkie talkie became a common mode of communication and it gained popularity for its commercial purposes. The walkie talkie was also used for some jobsite work.
One of the major characteristics of walkie talkie includes a half duplex channel where only one radio transmits signals at a time while many radios can listen to the conversation at the same time. A walkie talkie uses PTT or Push to talk technology that starts the operation of a walkie talkie. A normal walkie talkie looks like a normal telephone instrument or a mobile phone but it is slightly larger in size. There is an antenna that that sticks out at the top of a walkie talkie. There is also an earpiece of a walkie talkie that is so loud that the conversation can be heard not only by the holder of a walkie talkie but also people in his immediate vicinity. A walkie talkie can be used for communication between people or it can be used as wall mounted communication tool. A walkie talkie can also be used for base to base communication.
The walkie talkie has undergone nay changes in the look and architecture over the years but the purpose of using a walkie talkie is still the same. Today it is mostly used by police and armed forces for the purpose of public safety in various parts of the world. The walkie talkies are also used at various events where a large number of people are spread at large areas and they need to be constantly in touch. The walkie talkies are generally used in areas where portable radio communication is possible. The walkie talkies are available in the market at various prices. They are available as simple analog units that can be used for simple purposes while there are also some strong analog or digital units that are used by heavy industries.
